Yamashita Shikki shop in Kagurazaka has a wide range of lacquer wares
Yamashita Shikki-Ten was founded 67 years ago, only 3 years after the WWII ended. Current owner's grandfather originally started selling table wares, then gradually shifted to lacqure ware shop until now.
There are variety of lacquer ware from plates, chopsticks to name card cases.
Yamasita Shikki-Ten has great correction of lacquer works which came from many different areas in Japan, such as Wajima-Nuri from Ishikawa prefecture and Tsugaru-Nuri from Aomori prefecture.
Each of lacquer ware has slightly different colours and they look rather nice as they age, so it will be the life-long souvenir for your somebody.
In summer, they sell small Bonsai Plants (Japanese traditional plantation). Although it is hard to bring them back to other countries, it is still fun to look at them one by one.
