Introduction

Pedal your way around beautiful lake Biwa and learn Japan's history on this 3-days guided bike tour!

Lake Biwa is the largest lake in Japan, located in Shiga Prefecture. The tranquil lake with floating islands attracts many tourists. At roughly 230km in circumference,it is also one of the great cycling roads in Japan. Cycle along beautiful lake views, temples and shrines, lots of agriculture, and several good museums.

In this cycling tour, you will make a round trip of the lake in 3 days with locals.
The area also consists of historically significant towns in Japan's history, so you will be able to learn about the Japan's important history by a local guide.
The good part you can enjoy with this bike trip is that you will be able to stop by every small town you may miss by car or train.

The meeting point is Maibara Station(JR Tokaido Shinkansen), about 2.5 hours away from Tokyo by Shinkansen and 1 hour away from Kyoto by train. If you would like deep and unusual experience, this is it!

-Day 1-
Meet up at Maibara Station at 9AM. You will cycle about 3 kilometers to the lake Biwa. Your counter clockwise round trip of Lake Biwa will begin. The first town, Nagahama is known for its the beautiful buildings with black walls, built by Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

-Day 2-
A peninsula in the north of Lake Biwa is a famous cherry blossoms viewing spot! Cycle along the spots and enjoy cherry blossoms view early in the morning before it gets crowds. Then you will head down to the South part of Lake Biwa.
[Approximately Cycling Distance: 73km]

-Day 3-
Passing through the Biwa Bridge, you will enjoy the great lake viewm and head to Omi Hachiman. Omi Hachiman is a small castle town, built in 1985 by Toyotomi Hidetsugu. Prior to the invention ofthe train and automobile, Omi Hachiman was a hub for canal transportation.
You will then come back to Maibara and complete the round trip!

Tour Tips

-The minimum height is 150cm (5feet)
-The person who cannot ride a bicycle about 60km (37.2miles) cannot join the tour.
- You must wear a helmet.
- You must wear a comfortable wear and shoes.
- The temperature is from 10℃-20℃.
- This tour is conducted by one guide. When an accident occurs, the most priority is everyone's safety.
- In case of the bad weather, a full size van is available.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel at least 21 calendar days in advance, there is no cancellation fee.

If you cancel between 20 and 8 calendar days in advance, you will be charged 20% cancellation fee.

If you cancel between 7 and 2 calendar days in advance, you will be charged 30% cancellation fee.
If you cancel within 1 calendar day in advance, you will be charged 40% cancellation fee.
If you cancel on the tour date before the tour begins, you will be charged 50% cancellation fee.
If you cancel after the tour begins, you will be charged 100% cancellation fee.
