God Island Miyajima Guided Tour from Hiroshima

Introduction

Have you ever been to the God Island of Miyajima?
With this tour you can, you will meet with your guide at Hiroshima city and from there your tour will begin.
Once you arrive at the Miyajima Island you will first go to the Itsukushima shrine.

Itsukushima Shrine
Most famous for the Torii gate and shrine floating over the water. The shrine has multiple building, including a prayer hall, noh theatre stage, and a main hall which are connected boardwalks and supported by pillars under the sea. It is said that in 1168 the most powerful man in Japan during the end of the Heian Period, Taira no Kiyomori, selected this island as his clan's family shrine and built the Itsukushima Shrine.

Daiganji Temple
This temple was in charge of repairing and constructing the Itsukushima Shrine.

Daishoin Shrine
It is said that until the separation of Buddhism and Shintoism, the head priest of Itsukushima Shrine engaged in politics here. At this area you will find countless Buddhist teachings, just simply being in this area you will find yourself peace and tranquility. Here you will find 1000 statues of Kannon (The god of stillness), Mani Wheels (prayer wheels), 33 Incarnated Kannon Images and statue of Namiikiri Fudo Myo.

Toyokuni Shrine
This shrine was built in 1599 to commemorate a prominent historical figure, Hideyoshi Toyokuni's greatness. After his death he was enshrined at this shrine and became a God and object of worship. Hideyoshi Toyokuni was originally a poor farmer however he stepped to become a king in Japan, which is why many people in Osaka and Kyoto worshipped him as a god. This shrine has many history to be told, try asking the guide for the continuation were sure that it will interest you more about Japanese history.

After the visit to the shrine you will be guided to ride the ferry towards Hiroshima city and your tour will come to an end. In a day you will with a help of the local guide you will be able to immerse yourself at the God Island Miyajima. At the end of the day we are sure you will come out of this experience with much knowledge and appreciation of Japanese history and beauty.
