Introduction
With this program you will be given a overview and additional insight, giving you a better understanding of a Kabuki performance. Watch one of Japan's fascinating, traditional performing arts, Kabuki, and learn in more depth about the art before watching the performance! Kabuki compared to many other traditional performing arts in Japan, is fairly easy to access. However in most cases with just the audio/visual guides, it is difficult to understand the meaning of the actors movements and the story that they want to tell. With this program you will also be receiving a pre-performance talk, which includes the Kabuki basics and history, notes on the best bits to look out for in the show, background information about the actors, dining options and the snacks and souvenirs to look out for during intermissions. If you are thinking of getting into Japanese performance art, then this program is perfect for you! Highlights -See the variety of unique acting techniques - such as Onnagata: male actors who specialize in performing female roles -Be with a Kabuki expert English-speaking guide -Enjoy many elaborate costumes and wigs -Traditional Japanese music performed live including “Tsuke” (wooden clappers) and other instruments unique to Japan -Watch "Mawaributai", the revolving stage which originated in Japan in Kabuki! -Get a deeper appreciation of the art form When booking, please read below of which program you wish to do.
