Takaraya, is a high-grade Japanese restaurant which has over 100 years history! It is located in Kisarazu.
In this program we offer special access to a private room at this famous traditional restaurant to enjoy their kaiseki cuisine with geisha.
Geisha, Japanese traditional culture and performer, do not solely reside in Kyoto, but in a few locations in Tokyo as well.
In Kisarazu, which is only an hour away from Tokyo, there are approximately 10 geisha who are still active.
The history will take you back to Edo period (1603 to 1867) when there were inter-city exchanges between Edo (former Tokyo) and Kisarazu.

Thus, Geisha culture in Kisarazu has about 200 years of history.
There used to be thousands of geisha performers in the past, but as time goes by, the number has decreased to only a few hundreds who are still active in Japan.
This program offers you a rare chance to actually meet with geisha face to face.

About Takaraya restaurant;
Takaraya is located in Kisarazu, Chiba and was established in 1897.
Thereafter they have been serving the local taste of Kisarazu for more than 100 years with main menu of Edo-style seafood including popular a short-necked clam dish.
They always provide the ingredients that are carefully selected in Kisarazu including the vegetables which they harvested near Boso peninsula.
*This is Muslim friendly location with great reputation from Muslim people.

About Geisha:
A geisha/geiko/geiki is a trained entertainer/performer who is very skilled in song, dance, and playing instruments, such as shamisen and koto, to entertain guests.
Geisha sometimes tend to be confused with the Oiran, but there is a clear difference between them.
Oiran, which was a name given to a prostitute, who was very popular and highly regarded, mostly for her beauty.
In the Edo period, prostitution conducted in specific area and was legal.

From Tokyo station (Train):
1. Take Sobu rapid line towards Kimitsu station
2. Get off the train at the Kisarazu station. It is about 90 min. walk.
3. Go to West exit and go straight, the station on the back.
4. 8 minutes walk from Kisazaru Station, and the restaurant is located on the right side.

From Tokyo station / Shinagawa station (Bus):
1. Take the bus from Shinagawa station or Tokyo station towards Kisarazu station.
2. Get off the bus at the KIsarazu station. It is about 60 min. walk.
3. Go to West exit and go straight, the station on the back.
4. 8 minutes walk from Kisazaru Station, and the restaurant is located on the right side.

Cancellation Policy
Reservations may be cancelled without a charge up to 8 days prior to the program date.
Reservations cancelled less than 3 days before the program date will incur the following charges:
- Between 7 days and 3 day: 30% of the program charge
- Between 2 days and 1 day: 80% of the program charge
- Less than a day or no show: 100% of the program charge
