Mt. Nokogiri -View of Hell- Guided Day Tour from Tokyo



Have fun with this short trip from Tokyo to Mt. Nokogiri in Chiba prefecture - just outside of Tokyo.
This is a guided tour that takes you to Mt. Nokogiri area which is known for the View of Hell and its stunning views of Tokyo Bay.

Meet up with your guide at your hotel and take a train trip to Hamakanaya Station in Chiba.
You can have lunch at a lively local restaurant which serves Kaisen-Don (rice bowl topped with fresh sashimi) and clam miso soup. After walking around and enjoy the scenery of the Tokyo Bay and the View of Hell from the town, you will ride a ropeway(gondola) to go up to the top of Mt. Nokogiri. There the guide will show you the Nihon-ji Temple area, including Jigoku Nozoki(View of Hell) and Ishidaibutsu (the Big Stone Buddha). On your way back to Tokyo, you will see the beautiful scenery of the ocean from the bus on the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line.

【Jigoku Nozoki~Peeking Inside Hell】
You have a magnificent panoramic view of Tokyo Bay, the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, and Mt. Fuji from the top of cliff, as high as 100 meters.

【Nihonji Shrine】
Nihonji-Shrine is the oldest Imperial Prayer Plant, founded by Emperor Shomu in 725. It stands on the southen slope of Mt Nokogiri. The big cliff Buddha, Yakushiruriko Nyorai and Hyakusyaku Kannnon are in the temple.

【The Big Cliff Buddha~ Yakushiruriko Nyorai】
The principal image of the temple, Yakushiruriko Nyoraiwhich, is a 31 m-tall open-air stone Buddha and the largest cliff Buddha statue in Japan. It is about twice as high as the big Buddha in Nara Todaiji Temple.

【Hyakushaku Kuannon】
Hyakusyaku Kuannon is founded in 1966 to watch over the safety of voyage, aviation and land transport.
